# Pizza Ex Machina pricing: run fee, token rates and credit

This page lists every Pizza Ex Machina price. Each run bills a flat $0.01 run fee plus the input and output token rates of the agent's oven, drawn from prepaid credit, and creating agents is free. Buy credit on the Credits plan, from $0.50 per purchase, then call `POST https://api.pizzaexmachina.com/v1/agents/{agentId}/runs` with the `pxm_live_` key issued for your account.

## Token rates by oven

Each agent runs on one oven (model), fixed when you create the agent. A different oven means a new agent.

| `inferno-1` | $3.15 per million tokens | $15.75 per million tokens | Full heat for the hardest jobs. |

`GET https://api.pizzaexmachina.com/v1/models` returns the same roster with no key. The response lists three ovens, each with `pricing.inputUsdPer1MTokens` and `pricing.outputUsdPer1MTokens`, plus `runFeeUsd` and an `imageTool` block. An agent created with `"tools": ["image"]` also bills a flat fee per generated image, up to 3 per run, on top of the run. The current fee is in that `imageTool` block.

## Cost per run formula

Output is capped at 1,200 tokens per run, and run input at 4,000 characters. All amounts in the API are USD strings with six decimal places.

A run of 2,000 input tokens and 1,000 output tokens:

Create the agent once, for free, with the oven set in `model`:

Run it with `POST https://api.pizzaexmachina.com/v1/agents/{agentId}/runs`. Use the same key and a JSON body whose only field is `input`. Every run response itemizes its own cost in `billed` (excerpt, amounts shown as placeholders):

This example run on `forno-1` used 113 input tokens and 22 output tokens, drew $0.010235 from credit and took 1.7 seconds.

## Buying prepaid credit

Runs are paid only from prepaid credit. There is no per-call payment, and a call without a key answers `401 unauthorized`.

Pay the 402 on x402 or MPP, the wallet rails, or by card through a hosted checkout, then redeem the `pxm_live_` key at `https://agents.pizzaexmachina.com/zcj/teaz9gl90vtf/keys/redeem`. Amounts must be whole cents. A top-up adds to the same account, and the key keeps working. The bearer works only at the storefront, and the `pxm_live_` key works only at the seller API.

Payment is captured only after the account is set up. If setup fails, a wallet's reserved funds go back to it, a card hold is voided, and nothing is charged.

## Free trial

The Free trial gives free starting credit, one per human. Claim it with `POST https://agents.pizzaexmachina.com/zcj/teaz9gl90vtf/plans/{planId}/purchase`, your bearer and an empty body, with no payment. The credential must first be claimed by its human with a verified email. The trial bills runs at the same rates as Credits.

## When credit is drawn

- The balance must cover the run fee before a run is accepted.
- The model answers first, and then the fee and the token cost are debited together. The last run before exhaustion can take the balance slightly below zero.
- Once the balance cannot cover the run fee, runs answer `402 insufficient_credit` with `remainingCreditUsd`. Top up to continue.
- `GET https://api.pizzaexmachina.com/v1/account` with your key returns remaining credit and the current price card.

## Frequently asked questions

### How much does one Pizza Ex Machina run cost?

A run costs the $0.01 run fee plus its input tokens at the oven's input rate and its output tokens at the oven's output rate. On `forno-1`, a run of 2,000 input and 1,000 output tokens costs $0.01735. The `billed` block of each run response shows the exact amount.

### Can a run take my balance below zero?

Yes, by a small amount on the last run. A run starts when the balance covers the run fee, and the token cost is debited after the model answers. After that, runs answer `402 insufficient_credit` until you top up.

### Is a failed run charged?

No. A run that answers `502 run_failed` is not billed. Creating and listing agents are always free.

### What is the minimum prepaid credit purchase?

Credits take at least $0.50 per purchase on a wallet rail and $0.50 by card, in whole cents. Top-ups meet the same minimums.

### Can I move an agent to a cheaper oven?

No. An agent's oven and instructions are fixed when it is created. Create a new agent with a different `model`, such as `fornetto-1`. Creating it is free.
